A chicken, a mongoose or a lamingo?

My birthday was on Easter Sunday, and I received a few gifts from the family. This is a picture frame I got from my thoughtful brother-in-law Don (You might call him Paul). Beth's name was also on the card, but I suspect Don did the shopping. I have proudly displayed my frames (it was a set of 3!) on my fireplace mantel in the living room. Earlier this week Drew points at this frame and says, "I want to see chicken. I want to see chicken." After telling him that it was a flamingo, not a chicken, I told him it was breakable and he couldn't see it. About half hour later, he points at it again and says, "I want to see mongoose. I want to see mongoose." I relented and let him see it, so he could get a better look at the "mongoose." He has finally started calling it a "lamingo."
Blake's take on the frames, and this is an exact quote, "They're not my style. Could you put them in your room mom." Who knew my 4-year-old had style?

Getting ready for kindergarten

Blake got his shots this week for kindergarten. He really enjoyed them. Ha. Ha. Actually, he was really brave. It was only the third shot that he really wimpered about. We registered about a month ago at his school. Blake really liked the gym (It had a United States map on the floor of it!) and the playground. He told me about a week later, "Mom, I think I'm ready to go to kindergarten." But is Mom ready?

Easter Part 2

We began Easter morning with an egg hunt in the back yard. In the middle picture, Blake snatches an egg just before Drew can grab it. Ahhh, brotherly love. The Easter Bunny even left some really cool T-Rex eggs that had Matchbox vehicles in them. Those were Blake and Drew's favorites. After going to church, we went over to Don and Glenda's for another egg hunt and more freeze tag. In the top photo Great Uncle Ric reads to the boys.

Drew picks up eggs at Grandma and Grandpa Klingsick's house. This is when he was still wearing clean clothes, before Uncle Tim let him fall in the pond.

Easter Part 1

We spent the Saturday before Easter at my parents house. We barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers and spent a lot of time outside. In the second picture, Drew piles rocks in his truck while his cousins Noah and Michaela shovel. Drew is very into trucks and construction equipment right now. His favorite phrase is, "I want to take truck" - referring to Dad's gas-guzzling F-250. Yeah, we'll do that when gas prices are nearly $3 a gallon. He even has career aspirations. He either wants to drive a "giant tow truck" or an "articulated truck."
We also enjoyed a game of freeze tag with cousins and aunts and uncles at the get together. It's one of Blake's favorite games right now. Scott got a little carried away chasing after his brother-in-law Mike, and I think he pulled something. He is so old!
